About Gareth

Ball

STRONG LOCAL CONNECTIONS:

I am 47, married with children who attend local schools. Iím a Chartered Engineer and work as a renewable energy specialist. I have lived in Flitton for 12 years and Mid Beds for 22 years.

A LOCAL CAMPAIGNER:

I have been part of the campaign that has defended Flitwick Moor from the threat of housebuilding on the land between the Moor and Maulden Road, Flitwick.

Ball

WORKING FOR YOU:

I have also been campaigning to stop the massive train fare increases for people who need to return from London between 4.30 and 7pm. Passengers shouldnít be forced to catch a train that stops at Elstree (with an extra change of train), and buy a cheap day return from Flitwick to Elstree and another from Elstree to where they really want to go to, just to be able to afford a day out.

My pledges to you:

Ball

MAINTAINING VILLAGE BOUNDARIES:

The Labour Government is imposing ridiculous targets for building tens of thousands of houses across Mid Bedfordshire. I will fight hard to ensure that our villages donít become suburban sprawl. There are more empty homes than homeless people in Bedfordshire already:we need countryside, not concrete.

Ball

MORE FACILITIES IN THE VILLAGES:

The council should have done more to make sure the Post Office at Pulloxhill didnít close, but the Labour Government must take its share of the blame by ending over-the-counter pension and benefit payments. I will support efforts to bring back a local Post Office and shop.

Ball

SAFER ROADS:

Our children need to be able to walk or cycle safely to school, and adults need to be able to walk or cycle safely to local village facilities - whether churches, pubs or village halls. I will push the council to make road safety a higher priority. There is no excuse for the vehicles speeding through our villages.

Time for a change:

Last time there was an election for Flitton, Greenfield and Pulloxhill ward, I received massive support, and was just 55 votes short of being elected. In the mean time Greens have been elected to councils in Hertfordshire, Suffolk, Oxfordshire, and rural Essex. This time, you can have a councillor who will put Flitton, Greenfield and Pulloxhill on the map.
